Creating a Lead Generation Form in Bubble
Here's how to create a lead generation form. I have a page using the new responsive engine beta, with the layout aligned to parent. My main container is aligned in the middle, set to columns, with a series of columns. I've grouped my fields together to apply a uniform pixel gap between them, with a 28-pixel margin on the bottom to position my button slightly lower.
Setting Up Email Notifications
To receive an email notification when a user fills in this form, create a workflow for the button. Choose "Email" then "Send Email". In the "To" field, put your email address. For the "Reply To" field, use the submitted email address from the input. Format the body simply, including the name and other details. There's a quirk here - you need to add an extra line break to adjust the formatting properly.
Testing the Workflow
If this workflow is completed, you should receive an email. This works even on the free Bubble plan without connecting a domain name or transactional email provider. However, this method isn't reliable for a live app.
Setting Up for a Live App
For a live app, connect your domain name and fill in the email settings of a provider like Sendgrid. This allows you to send notification emails under your own branding rather than using a generic email address, which is more likely to end up in spam. To use the "send email" workflow, you need to sign up to Sendgrid, enter your Sendgrid details, and adjust your DNS records to authorize Bubble to send emails on your behalf.
Alternative Email Providers
You could also set up different transactional email providers like Mailgun or Postmark, but you'd need to do this through the Bubble plugin, the API connector.
Quick Setup Recap
For a quick result, we've set up this form to send an email to you based on the details filled in. It's important to note that this is an email notification from your app, not an email from the person who filled in the form. It should come under your identity to avoid a bad reputation for your emails and prevent them from ending up in spam.
